Going to the field

People who are willing to go and help brothers and sisters in other nations for the name of Jesus.

Who goes

The teams are made up of believers from many parts of Brazil who pay their own expenses and want to be part of a trip abroad. Some take part in a single trip, but many repeat the experience.

Each person who takes part comes back with a new vision and a transformed life, and a passion for the work. Some go thinking they will give only the time and money of one trip, and come back determined to go to the field for good, or to support those already there more fully. A young lawyer from Curitiba once traded a month of vacation in Paris for a month of service in Guinea-Bissau.

What the preparation is like

The ministry of supporting the Christians in the destination country begins with the luggage: an instrument (an acoustic or electric guitar) to leave behind, Bibles, supplies, hospital instruments, spare parts. It is a risky mission: carrying so many different things can draw the attention of immigration and customs, so team members and their families need to be ready to truly depend on the Lord in everything.

Newcomers receive instructions before departure. The main purpose is not necessarily to preach: it is to help those who preach and serve needy populations, and to encourage those in the field.

“I learned that the church of God is made up of one specific race, which is not Brazilian, nor European, nor Cuban, nor African. That race is not black, nor white, nor yellow… they are all red, washed in the blood of Jesus.”
